Naga is a type of Snakegourd, or Trichosanthes cucumerina, which is very prolific, dark green fruit with white stripes 20-30 cm. long 2.8-3 cm. diameter, weight 60-80 grams. Fruit maturity is 55 days, resistance to insects. Snake gourd seeds are considered difficult to germinate. It cannot grow in the shade. It prefers moist soil. Scarification and 24 hour soaking is recommended for seed germination. It is best to start these seeds indoors 4-6 week prior to last frost
