Culantro/Ban Dhania Plant

Culantro, or Eryngium foetidum is a tropical perennial herb that is native to Mexico and the Caribbean.  Also known as long coriander,chadon beni, Mexican coriander, and many other names.

This herb has a wide array of applications, ranging from culinary to medicinal, and is now cultivated throughout the world. It has become popular throughout Asia, and has also become extensively used in North-East India.

Planting Guidance: Sunlight: Culantro prefers partial shade, but can tolerate full sun. Shade helps prevent the plant from bolting, which means it produces flowers and goes to seed too quickly. Shade-grown plants also produce larger, more tender leaves.
Soil: Culantro grows best in moist, well-drained, fertile soil with a pH of 6.0–7.5.
Watering: Check the soil's moisture regularly and water when the top inch is dry. Don't overwater, as this can kill the plant.
Fertilizing: Encourage leaf production by feeding the plant with a liquid plant food.
Weeding: Apply a layer of organic mulch to help with watering and weed prevention.
Pinching: Pinch or cut off the stalk to encourage more foliage growth.
Removing flower buds: Remove flower buds to keep the plant going longer and the leaves more palatable.
Harvesting: Cut the leaves individually as needed.
