Canna "Cannova-Mango"

This beautiful Canna generalis plant variety produces a salmon/peach color flower. These plants typically grow about 3-4 feet tall. They can handle from partial to full sun, and need minimum of 4-6 hours of sunlight, and thrive in full sun conditions. Canna seeds have traditionally been used to make ornamental beads for jewelry. In Indonesia, it i commonly referred to as the prayer bead flower, as its seeds are perfect for Buddhist mala's. The rhizomes contain a sweet tasting edible starch, that now through its commercial cultivation is used to make things from vermicelli, to white wine. As a more recent innovation, this starch has been utilized to make biodegradable plastic products. The Cannova series is characterized by their large leaves, compact bushy growth habit, and multiple shoot formation.

Planting Guidance: Water cannas at planting time, then throughout the season if it's dry. They do best with a deep soaking every two to three days, says Snow. In containers, which tend to dry out faster than beds, you may have to water more frequently during the hottest part of the summer.
