Black Cardamom

Black Cardamom(Amomum Subulatum) is a relative of ginger that is native to the Indian subcontinent. Known as badi elaichi in Hindi, its dried seed pod is used a spice predominantly in Indian cuisines, however its uses can also be found in Pakistan, Vietnam, and China as well. Black Cardamom imbues a complex,smokey flavor to dishes. It is also used in Ayurvedic and ancient Chinese medicine. Cardamom makes a great house plant as it doesnt require a lot of light and their leaves emit a nice fragrance.

Planting Guidance: Plant cardamom in the shade when in hot, humid, consistently moist, tropical rainforest conditions where daily temperatures infrequently dip below 72°F. Cardamom will only survive outdoors in the warmest parts of North America. If outdoor temperatures drop below 50°F, the plant will suffer significantly.
