Hyacinth(Long Valor)Bean-Bhavna

Bhavna is a a Long Valor variety, or Dolichos lablab, that grows on a vine. The seeds are reddish brown and is day-neutral. Cook up the full shell, or pop open the valor pod and use the kidney shaped seeds. Try it in a the delicious Valor Nu Shaak, a Gujarati style vegetable dish.

Planting Guidance: This bean can grow in a wide range of soil textures, from heavy clays, if well drained, to sandy soils. It is normally adapted to the same areas as cowpeas. It tolerates acidic soils better than most legumes, growing well when soil pH is 4.5–6.5, and it does well in low fertility soils.
