Description
Ficus benghalensis, also known as the Banyan tree, is considered to be the national tree of India. It is known for its large size in the wild and extensive aerial roots that can eventually grow to support the trunk of the tree itself! These trees can grow up to 100ft tall and some grow wider than they do tall! These potentially mammoth trees also make excellent indoor potted plants and grow on average to 5-10ft while indoors. Banyan trees like moist well draining soil, but do have some degree of drought tolerance. They need at least partial sunlight and temperatures above 65 degrees F for optimal growth. It is recommended you look up specific Ficus care to ensure you are giving the optimal care to these plants.
