Banana - Lacatan

Musa - Lacatan is known to be the most popular desert banana in the Philippines, where they prefer this Banana to the Cavendish cultivar for mass production. Lacatan boast the unofficial title of the best tasting banana. It is known to produce fruit within the first year in the right conditions. Lacatan are considered fast growing and easy to grow. They prefer moist, but well draining soil. They grow to an average height of 5-9ft. It is hardy to Zones 8-11, but can be grown in a container and brought indoors if given proper indoor winter care. Like in the Philippines, families across India enjoy a nice post meal banana. If you and your family enjoy a nice sweet, smooth, but firm textured banana, then this is the one for you!

Planting Guidance: The banana plant is a fast grower and therefore it is advisable to repot every 2 years. Always repot in the spring so that the plant can recover from any damage that may have occurred during repotting. Use a pot that is 20% wider than the old pot and use universal potting soil.
