Bael, or Aegle marmelos is a fruit tree that is indigenous to the Indian subcontinent. It is also known as Bengal quince, stone apple, wood apple and more. This deciduous tree grows has pale brown-grayish bark, trifolate leaves, and pale green or yellow flowers. The fruit are on average around 2-4 inches in diameter and are high in Vitamin C. This trees is regarded as sacred among Hindus and Buddhists. Its bark, roots, fruit, and seeds are also used in traditional Indian medicine.
