Sunflower-Autumn Beauty

Autumn beauty, or Helianthus annuus, is a type of Sunflower. An appealing mixture of bright warm toned flowers. The strong stemmed blooms grow on tall plants producing an abundance of cut flowers. Rich shades of orange, yellow, bronze, and red on multibranched plants. More colorful than the standard yellow sunflower. Use as a backdrop for shorter plantings, as a temporary hedge or for color in the vegetable garden.

Planting Guidance: Sow sunflowers from late spring to early summer. Where summers are long and warm, make a second sowing for autumn harvest. Poke seeds into the soil about 1 inch (3 cm) deep and 3 inches (8 cm) apart. Thin to 12 inches (30 cm) apart in all directions for dwarf varieties.
