Carrot-Atomic Red

Atomic Red is a type of Daucus carota var. sativus, or more commonly - a red carrot. With a bright red root, it is tapered 1.5 x 11" long, super healthy, crispy, intense color even when cooked. Atomic Red carrots are very healthy and unique-looking, this carrot is especially high in the anti-oxidant lycopene, the pigment that gives them their red color which is also found in tomatoes. Toss it in your favorite carrot based dish and you'll see that the color actually gets more intense when cooked! And of course, the bright red is sure to add color to your garden.

Latin Name: Daucus carota var. sativus

Planting Guidance: Bury seeds a quarter inch deep and thin plants 2 to 3 inches apart. The seeds can take up to 3 weeks to germinate and therefore can be planted before the last frost date. The roots grow to maturity between 70 to 120 days depending on cultivar and environment.
